SPEED for Broadband Infrastructure Act of 2025
A 2025 House bill that would exempt certain broadband infrastructure projects from federal environmental and historic preservation review requirements.
H.R. 5264 was introduced in the U.S. House on September 10, 2025, by Mr. Goldman of Texas. The bill would change the Communications Act of 1934 to exempt certain broadband infrastructure projects — like placing and installing communications equipment — from having to complete environmental reviews or historical preservation reviews before getting federal approval. It was referred to the Committees on Energy and Commerce and Natural Resources.
This bill could change how quickly broadband equipment is approved in your area by removing certain environmental and historic preservation review steps that currently apply before federal approval.
