Senate Bill 12 expands the Texas Attorney General's role in elections. The law lets the Attorney General prosecute criminal offenses related to state election laws. Law enforcement agencies must report suspected election crimes to the Attorney General. Local prosecutors can help or turn cases over to the state. The law takes effect December 4, 2025.
