The Patient Access to Autoimmune Treatments Act (PAAT Act) is a bill introduced in the U.S. House on September 18, 2025, by Ms. Johnson of Texas and Mr. Kennedy of Utah. It would require Medicare Part D plans to cover drugs for autoimmune diseases, hemophilia, and Von Willebrand disease starting in 2027. It would also limit how often plans can require prior authorization for these drugs to once per 12-month period.
Houston residents on Medicare who take drugs for autoimmune diseases, hemophilia, or Von Willebrand disease could see changes to how their insurance covers those drugs and how often they need prior approval.
