When someone in your neighborhood has a mental health crisis, this program helps deputies connect them to treatment instead of jail. It makes these emergency situations safer for everyone and gets people the right kind of help they need.
Deputies will keep having mental health experts available by video during crisis calls. People having mental health emergencies are more likely to get treatment instead of going to jail.
The program was already approved, so deputies will continue having this mental health support through 2027. More funding will be needed after that to keep it going.
