The Texas Workforce Commission supports the state's workforce by administering unemployment insurance benefits, overseeing job training programs, and regulating child care providers. TWC funds and oversees Workforce Solutions Greater Houston, the local workforce development board that operates career centers throughout the Houston area. TWC administers the Trade Adjustment Assistance program for workers who lose jobs due to foreign trade, Vocational Rehabilitation services for people with disabilities, and the Skills Development Fund which helps businesses train workers. TWC's UI online system allows claimants to file unemployment claims and certify weekly benefits.
