Texas Health & Human Services Commission

Texas Health and Human Services Commission is the state's umbrella agency for health and human services, serving approximately 7 million Texans through over 200 programs. HHSC administers Medicaid and CHIP health coverage, SNAP food assistance, WIC nutrition services, mental health and substance use services, services for people with disabilities, long-term care for older adults, and Early Childhood Intervention. HHSC operates local benefit offices throughout Houston and Harris County where residents can apply for multiple programs. HHSC's Your Texas Benefits portal allows online applications and account management for most programs.
