The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is the state's primary environmental regulatory agency. TCEQ issues air and water quality permits for industrial facilities, monitors air quality across Texas including Houston's heavily industrialized areas, investigates pollution complaints, and enforces state and federal environmental regulations. TCEQ operates the Texas Air Monitoring Information System (TAMIS) and the State of Texas Environmental Electronic Reporting System (STEERS).
