SANMAN — short for 'See A Need, Meet A Need' — is a Houston-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation rooted in a mentoring program created in the early 2000s by Martin Rogers for urban youth in Southwest Houston. Today, SANMAN operates as a creative community organization that gives artists of all ages, races, and economic backgrounds access to studio space, tools, mentorship, and platforms to grow their craft. It runs an Artist Residency Program (launched November 2021) that places emerging visual artists in private studio spaces, connects them with professional development and mentorship from established regional artists, and supports solo and group exhibitions — absorbing all exhibition costs including framing, photography, and press kits. SANMAN also hosts community events, educational workshops through its SANMAN Academy, and gallery exhibitions, all aimed at strengthening Houston's creative ecosystem.
