Houston Health Department

The Houston Health Department protects and improves the health of Houston's diverse population through disease prevention, health promotion, and clinical services. HHD operates neighborhood health centers providing primary care, HIV/STI testing and treatment, dental services, and mental health services on a sliding fee scale. HHD administers the WIC program for Houston, provides immunizations for children and adults, leads communicable disease surveillance, and operates the City's vital statistics office. The department focuses particularly on health equity, working to reduce disparities in health outcomes for low-income and minority communities across Houston's neighborhoods.
