Overview
The Collab-Lab is a mobile classroom that drives directly into Houston neighborhoods. This traveling classroom brings free, hands-on learning activities for children ages birth to 5 years old. The program focuses on STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) and literacy skills that help children get ready for school. Parents and caregivers learn alongside their children in these fun, interactive sessions. The mobile classroom visits neighborhoods where families might not have easy access to quality early education programs. This matters because children who participate in early learning programs do better in kindergarten and beyond. In Houston, many families live in areas without nearby libraries, preschools, or learning centers. The Collab-Lab removes transportation barriers by coming directly to communities. The program helps parents become their child's first teacher by showing them simple activities they can do at home. Children practice counting, reading, problem-solving, and creativity through play-based learning. These skills build strong foundations for success in school and life. Our community benefits when all children have access to quality early education, regardless of their zip code. The Collab-Lab visits apartment complexes, community centers, parks, and other neighborhood locations across Harris County. To bring the Collab-Lab to your area, contact Collaborative for Children at info@collabforchildren.org or call their main office. Community organizations and apartment managers can request visits for their residents.
