Bruce Springsteen brings his voice to our movement this weekend at the No Kings rally in St. Paul, Minnesota. The rock star will perform his new song "Streets of Minneapolis" at the March 28 event, joining what organizers expect to be 9 million people across the country taking action.
Springsteen wrote "Streets of Minneapolis" in response to recent events affecting immigrant communities in the city. The song debuted as the highest-selling track in the United States within just two days of its release on January 30. "You want to try to meet the moment," Springsteen told the Minnesota Star Tribune. "The No Kings movement is of great import right now."
The St. Paul rally will feature other prominent voices including Senator Bernie Sanders, activist Jane Fonda, and singers Joan Baez and Maggie Rogers. Springsteen recently supported the ACLU's campaign defending birthright citizenship, allowing them to use his song "Born in the U.S.A." for their Supreme Court case arguments on April 1.
This nationwide day of action represents one of our community's largest coordinated efforts for civic engagement. We can find information about local No Kings events and ways to participate in our own neighborhoods through community organizations and social media.
