Community Agreement
How we show up for each other on this platform.
Our Shared Space
Community Exchange belongs to all of us. It works because people contribute honestly, treat each other with respect, and invest in the accuracy of what we share. This agreement describes the expectations we hold for everyone who participates — visitors, account holders, and partner organizations alike.
Respect Comes First
Every person who uses Community Exchange deserves to feel safe and welcome. We expect all participants to:
- Communicate with dignity, even during disagreement
- Respect differences in background, perspective, identity, and experience
- Avoid language or behavior that harasses, threatens, or demeans others
- Recognize that our neighborhoods are stronger because of their diversity
No Hate, No Harassment
Hate speech, harassment, and discrimination have no place here. This includes content or behavior targeting individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, immigration status, or any other identity. We take this seriously and will act to protect the safety of our community.
Accuracy and Honesty
The value of Community Exchange depends on the quality of what we share. Everyone who contributes content — whether submitting a resource, updating an organization listing, or providing feedback — agrees to:
- Share information that is accurate and verifiable
- Cite sources when making claims about data, statistics, or outcomes
- Update or correct information when it changes or when errors are found
- Avoid misrepresenting services, organizations, or capabilities
Organization Responsibilities
Organizations with listings on Community Exchange are responsible for the accuracy of their own information. This includes service descriptions, contact details, hours of operation, eligibility requirements, and event information. We encourage organizations to review their listings regularly and reach out if they need help keeping information current.
Asset-Based Language
Community Exchange is built on the belief that every neighborhood has strengths. All public contributions should reflect this. We ask that content focus on what communities have and what is possible — not on deficits or stereotypes. Language matters, and we hold ourselves to a standard that centers abundance and opportunity.
Content Moderation
Community Exchange reserves the right to review, edit, or remove content that violates this agreement. This includes listings, submissions, feedback, and any other content shared through the platform. We aim to handle moderation through conversation first, but will act swiftly when safety is at stake.
If content is removed, we will make reasonable efforts to explain why and offer a path forward when appropriate.
Reporting Concerns
If something on Community Exchange does not meet these standards, we want to know. Reports can be submitted through the feedback tools on any page or by emailing us directly. All reports are reviewed by a real person.
