Where We Live
The Houston Board of Adjustment meets weekly to hear applications for variances and special exceptions to city building and development regulations. The board can grant relief from setback requirements, parking standards, and other development rules when applicants demonstrate hardship. Meetings are open to the public and neighbors of properties seeking variances can attend to support or oppose applications that would change development patterns near their homes.
