Making It Work
City Government
Who decides
The Houston City Council Budget and Fiscal Affairs Committee meets monthly at City Hall to review the city budget, revenue projections, capital improvement plans, and financial policy. Committee meetings are open to the public and provide an opportunity for residents to understand and comment on how Houston spends public dollars. The committee reviews department budgets, bond proposals, tax rate decisions, and financial audits that directly affect city services and infrastructure investment across all neighborhoods.
