Overview
Wheatley High School serves our Third Ward community as a Houston ISD campus for students in grades 9-12. Located on Providence Street, this public high school provides free education for 643 students in one of Houston's most historic neighborhoods. Principal Sabrina Cuby leads a school that offers core academic classes, career preparation programs, and extracurricular activities that help students build skills for college and careers. As part of Houston ISD, Wheatley provides free breakfast and lunch for all students, plus support services like counseling, special education, and English language learning programs. The school connects directly to our community's future - these students will become Houston's next generation of workers, leaders, and neighbors. Families in Third Ward, Riverside Terrace, and nearby areas can send their children here for free, quality public education. The school also offers evening programs for adult education and community events that bring neighbors together. Parents can get involved through the Parent Teacher Organization, volunteer in classrooms, or attend school board meetings to have a voice in decisions. To enroll your student, visit the main office at 4801 Providence or call 713-671-3900. Houston ISD also provides free transportation for students who live more than two miles away.
