Overview
Booker T. Washington High School is a comprehensive public high school serving grades 9-12 in Houston's Heights area. Located at 4204 Yale Street, this HISD school serves 878 students with Principal Dr. Carlos R. Phillips leading our educational community. Washington High provides the foundation our teens need for college, careers, and citizenship. As a public school, Washington offers free education to all Houston families, including textbooks, school meals, and transportation. Our students access Advanced Placement courses, career and technical education programs, athletics, and clubs that build leadership skills. The school connects directly to our neighborhood's growth - many Washington graduates stay in Houston, starting businesses, teaching in our schools, and strengthening our workforce. Houston families choose Washington because public education belongs to all of us. We invest in these schools through local tax dollars, and they serve every child regardless of family income or background. Parents can enroll their high school students by contacting the main office at (713) 696-6600. The school also needs community volunteers for tutoring, mentoring, and career presentations. Visit during school hours or attend PTA meetings to learn how you can support our students. When we invest in Washington High School, we invest in Houston's future leaders.
