Overview
Waltrip High School serves 1,597 students in grades 9-12 in northwest Houston. Located at 1900 W 34th Street, this Houston ISD school has been part of our community for decades. Principal Michael Niggli leads a team that provides free public education to families in the area. The school offers core classes, career preparation programs, sports teams, clubs, and arts programs. Students can earn their high school diploma and prepare for college or careers. Waltrip matters because education opens doors for our young people. A strong high school helps families build better futures. It connects students to resources like free meals, counseling, and after-school activities. The school also brings our community together through sports games, performances, and events. Waltrip serves neighborhoods like Garden Oaks, Oak Forest, and Acres Homes. Families in these areas can send their teens here for free. The school impacts local jobs too - it employs teachers, staff, and supports nearby businesses. To get involved, call (713) 688-1361 to learn about enrollment, volunteer opportunities, or attending school events. Parents can join the PTA or help with fundraising. Community members can attend football games and support our students. Visit during school hours to see how we're preparing the next generation of Houston leaders.
