Overview
Sutton Elementary School serves our Southwest Houston community with free, quality education for children from early education through 5th grade. Located on Albacore Drive in the Sharpstown area, this Houston ISD school welcomes 1,049 students and their families each day. Principal Beatrice Akala leads a team dedicated to helping every child succeed. Our school provides much more than classroom learning. Students get free breakfast and lunch every day, ensuring no child learns on an empty stomach. After-school programs keep kids safe and engaged while parents work. The school offers special support for students learning English and those needing extra academic help. Families can access social services, health screenings, and parent education programs right at school. This matters because strong neighborhood schools build strong communities. When children succeed at Sutton Elementary, our whole Southwest Houston area grows stronger. The school creates jobs for teachers, staff, and support workers who live in our community. Getting involved is easy. Parents can volunteer in classrooms, join the PTA, or attend school board meetings. Community members can mentor students or support school events. Call 713-778-3400 to learn about volunteer opportunities. Visit during school hours to see our students in action. Every child deserves a great education, and Sutton Elementary delivers that promise to our Southwest Houston families every single day.
