Overview
Shearn Elementary is a Houston ISD public school that serves 478 students from Early Education through 5th grade. Located at 9802 Stella Link Road in southwest Houston, this school provides free, quality education to families in the Stella Link and surrounding neighborhoods. Principal MS Peta K Douglas leads a team dedicated to helping young learners build strong foundations in reading, math, science, and social studies. Our school offers much more than classroom learning. Students get free breakfast and lunch every day, ensuring no child learns on an empty stomach. After-school programs, library services, and special education support help every student succeed. Families can access counseling services, parent engagement opportunities, and resources to support learning at home. This matters because strong elementary schools create stronger communities. When our youngest residents get excellent early education, they're more likely to graduate high school, pursue higher education, and contribute to Houston's economy. Shearn Elementary specifically serves families who might not afford private school tuition, ensuring every child has access to quality education regardless of family income. To get involved, call (713) 295-5236 to schedule a tour or ask about enrollment. Parents can volunteer in classrooms, join the PTA, or attend school board meetings. Registration typically opens in spring for the following school year.
