Overview
Port Houston Elementary School is a Houston ISD public school that serves our East End community with free education for children from early childhood through 5th grade. With 278 students enrolled, this neighborhood school provides a complete education experience right here in our community at 1800 McCarty Street. Principal Ms. Jennifer Martinez leads a team dedicated to helping every child succeed. Our school offers much more than just classroom learning. Students get free breakfast and lunch every day, ensuring no child learns on an empty stomach. We provide after-school programs, sports teams, art classes, and music programs that help kids discover their talents. Our teachers and staff work closely with families to support each student's growth. The school connects directly to our neighborhood's needs, serving families who work at the nearby Port of Houston and throughout the East End. Many parents choose Port Houston Elementary because it's walkable from home and deeply connected to our community's culture and values. To enroll your child, visit the school office or call (713) 671-3890 to speak with staff. Ms. Martinez and her team welcome new families year-round. You can also volunteer, join the parent-teacher organization, or attend school board meetings to support public education in our neighborhood.
