Overview
Friends of the Children Houston believes in showing up for kids. Every single day. For 12 years or more.
Here's how it works: A professional mentor called a "Friend" gets paired with a young person in kindergarten. That Friend stays with them through elementary school, middle school, and high school graduation. They're there for the good days and the tough days. They help kids reach their goals and believe in them when things get hard.
The program works in Houston neighborhoods where kids have the most to overcome. Their clubhouse is at YMCA Aldine Greenspoint. It's a safe place where young people can be themselves and get real support.
Why does this matter? When an adult believes in you and sticks around, it changes everything. Kids gain confidence. They do better in school. They see new possibilities for their future. And those positive changes ripple out to their families and communities.
Friends of the Children Houston is making lasting change by building real relationships with young people who deserve a champion in their corner.
