Overview
The Bayou Preservation Association has been Houston's longest-running environmental group for 55 years. They celebrate, protect, and restore our bayous and streams.
BPA does important work through four main ways. They teach people about bayous. They clean up waterways with volunteers. They monitor the health of our water. And they advocate for strong protections.
Thousands of Houston residents volunteer with BPA every year. Together, they remove trash from bayous. They plant native plants. They restore habitats for fish and wildlife.
Why does this matter? Healthy bayous mean healthy neighborhoods. They prevent flooding. They filter our water. They give us places to walk and enjoy nature.
BPA's office is located on Navigation Boulevard in the East End. You can join their mission. Whether you volunteer, donate, or learn more, you can help protect Houston's waterways. When we take care of our bayous, we take care of our whole city.
